1.. They take mourning seriously. Women often wore mourning rings which was usually made from onyx or jet and featured a hair from the deceased person. Some would even bottle their mourning tears. Often, women were hired to stand at a bachelors grave site, usually blonde, to cry inconsolably so that he seemed adored. 

2. Hypnotism, divination and spiritualism were huge. they would attend many events where they would get their future read, speak to the deceased to be hypnotized. This was a big money industry in this Era which was usually filled with greatly paid actors.

3. Taxidermy was also huge in the Victorian Era. They collected many pieces and more notable the works of Walter Potter who would create taxidermy such as kittens having a tea party...

 4. Victorians wore a lot of black. This is because of the pollution which was mainly from coal which left clouds of pollution over cities. If a woman wore a light colors they would come home with a greyish tinge to their clothing.

5. Freak shows were also big in the Victorian Era. Going to a freak show for them was just as normal and accessible as us going to the movies. 

6. When someone passed the family would often have a photograph taken of the body. Sometimes the family would even pose with the body to make it look alive.

7. Gothic novels were at their peak. Some of the best were written in this era, think of Dracula and the works of Edgar Allan Poe.

8. A lady would not wear a skirt that showed her ankles. "modesty boards" were made to hide the womans ankles when she would sit as exposing your ankle was considered too racy.

9. Corsets of the Victorian era can almost not be worn by someone of today. Their corsets would clinch their waist so tightly to around just 16 inches. This warped the body structure causing a large range of medical issues such as breathing and even trouble in child birth. 

Blog Post 6 / Why is the great gatsby titled the great gatsby

I feel as though its ironic because the great Gatsby kind of cheated his way to be great . Although he was GREAT and wealthy his whole life wasn't that great and he didn't quite EARN it . The "old money " people kind of see right though his charade. But he is a good person and people tend to take advantage of his generosity. He truly was great and i think that is why i think the book was named it .

Blogpost 5 , Chapter 7

Dear Diary
Things have gotten quite weird,  Tom is being very hostile towards Gatsby he tried to tell Gatsby we have history and that i do not love Gatsby , I love Tom.  But Truth be told i don't love Tom the way i love Gatsby . I am in love with Gatsby.  He claimed he does love me even though he was cheating on me but how can you love somebody you cheat on constantly? I in fact told him that i once did love him but i did not anymore ans that his the full on truth . I couldn't possibly love him anymore not after everything that has went on between us. WE WERE  A MARRIED COUPLE BOTH HAVING AN AFFAIR FOR GOD SAKE .  Tom had sent us home together and I was the driver , I don't know what had came over me because I was involved in a hit and run ! I hit Myrtle and I left the scene , Gatsby said eh would take the blame but I couldn't possibly let him do that. What kind of person would I be if I let the man that I love take the blame ! What if he went to Jail for what I did ? So we went home and he hid to make sure Tom didn't hurt me. But Tom thinks Gatsby did it so of course he wasn't going to hurt me. I took him inside and we talked we ate on some cold chicken and talked. I knew Tom didn't think it was me but he couldn't think it was Gatsby either.  Nick realized the love Gatsby and I had for each other just look what he was willing to do. when nick left Gatsby still stayed outside watching over the house like he was our guard or something. It was nice it was real nice.

Blog Post 4 Chapter 6

1.) Gatsby was born James Gatz on a North Dakota farm , He attended college at St.Olaf's in Minnesota. He ended up dropping out after 2 weeks and ended up being a janitor. He worked on Lake superior and ended up warning Dan Cody about a storm and ended up working for him being an assistant and wanted to be a rich wealthy man himself.

2.) James Gatz was a poor farmer while Jay Gatsby was a wealthy successful man. He ended up changing his identity after the war when the roaring 20's started and became a part of it . He didnt want to be his old identity somebody who didn't have anything going for himself . A janitor

3. Gatsby earns toms money something Tom would never do , He is rich and spends his family's money . He is arrogant.
